tasting in the winelands!

Notes
for wine aficionados
Laborie Chardonnay 2003
The wet winters and
warm summers of Paarl are usually tempered by cool ocean breezes, which
drift over the mountain benefiting the chardonnay grapes, grown in
weathered granite and clovelly from Paarl Mountain. These were harvested
at optimum sugar level of 22.8ºB 60% were fermented in 300 litre
French Oak barrels and blended with 40% tank fermented
wine.
This delightful
Laborie Chardonnay, a medium to full bodied wine, has a subtle crispness
with a creamy aftertaste that hints of citrus and tropical fruits. The
French Oak barrels add complexity to this fine chardonnay and the wine
has a maturation potential of 8 years.

Laborie Blanc
de Blanc 2000
Among
the new releases from Laborie is a superb sparkling wine made in traditional
Champagne style from 100% Chardonnay grapes. The Laborie Blanc de
Blanc, served well chilled, is a special occasion wine echoing a great
tradition.
Complex with a
robust character, Laborie
Blanc de Blanc, has spent three years on the
lees. It has a crisp refreshing nose, is well-balanced and has a fine
sparkle. The Blanc de Blanc is full bodied with creamy mousse, a light
toast/biscuit flavour
on the pallet and a perfect dry lingering aftertaste.

Laborie 2000

fermented down to 6ºB. The juice was fortified to 17% alcohol/vol

is a 100% pinotage dessert wine that is one of the very special
timeless wines of the Laborie Cellar.

2002
The
Laborie Shiraz, with its ripe fine tannins, has subtle spicy fruit hints

the weathered granite of hutton and clovelly soils. A climate which is
tempered by the cool ocean breezes sweeping over the mountains. The
grapes were harvested above 23ºB, the juice was fermented dry on the
skins and matured in 300 litre oak barrels. There was no
filtration.

November 1997 Laborie proudly released their Alambic brandy, a first to
enter the market from Laborie estate. The brandy with a base wine of
