Cape Legends Inter Hotel Challenge

 

 

Cape Legends Inter Hotel Challenge invited teams of wine steward candidates from 25 top hotels in South Africa to share in a bold initiative a ‘Grape To Glass’ interaction with some of the top winemakers at their exquisite estates spread from Franschhoek to Stellenbosch and from Durbanville Hills to the Swartland.

 

Time to spend with winemakers that are at the top of their profession able to share their knowledge and expertise with keen students of wine. A time to nurture and groom tomorrow’s sommeliers. For this unique initiative each of the hotels were paired with a particular wine estate within the Cape Legends’ portfolio. The announcement of these partnerships took place at the exciting regional launches around South Africa.

GAUTENG LAUNCH! CAPE LEGENDS INTER HOTEL CHALLENGE

 

 

The stunning Gauteng launch took place at Tsogo Sun’s romantic Palazzo Montecasino on Tuesday 10th March. The Crème de la Crème Executive Chefs Dinner, set in the Rosa Room, was an intimate candlelit evening for 50 - a tour de force in damask, roses and silver candelabra. The dinner was prepared by four top Executive Chefs; Gerard Vingerling from The Palazzo, Stuart Cason of the Radisson Blu Gautrain, Phil de Villiers 54 on Bath and Jacques Etsebeth, Protea Hotel Balalaika Sandton.

A VINEYARD TALE continues… This was an inspirational time to forge relationships between winemakers who shared their knowledge and passion with our students of wine, each representing a top hotel from KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng as well as our teams from the Cape. On the Menu showcasing Executive Sous Chef Harpreet Kaur’s fine hand with contemporary Indian cuisine… A tantalising start of pastry shells with asafoetida spiced fresh peas with a light homemade yoghurt raita and mint chutney. A witty dish that pairs excellently with the Zonnebloem Sauvignon Blanc with hints of green pepper, a slight tartness of gooseberries and the richness of green fig.
